Woodbury County participating in new emergency alert system

SIOUX CITY (KCAU), Iowa – On June 30th, Woodbury County will begin using a new system for sending out emergency notifications.

According to a press release issued by Woodbury County Emergency Management, a brand new alert system known as Alert Iowa will be utilized in order to disseminate emergency notifications across the state through the use of text messages, voice calls, emails, and various forms of social media.

The release of Alert Iowa is scheduled for the 30th of June. The following are the registration instructions that officials have provided for residents of Iowa to assist them in signing up for the new system.

  1. Create an account on the Woodbury County website by filling out the appropriate information.
  2. You can download the Smart911 app for either Android or Apple devices from the Google Play Store.
  3. Send the text “WoodburyIA” to the number 672-83 to receive all alerts for Woodbury County.
  4. Send the text “your city” followed by “IA” to the number 672-83 to sign up for the community’s notification service. MovilleIA
