How to fix Internet Explorer that has stopped working.

Windows 10 already has a replacement Microsoft Edge Browser. If you love internet explorer, but Internet Explorer is not working properly, freezing, or crashing, it’s not too late. This is usually due to an error in iexplore.exe that is caused by a “.dll” file from a third party.

Internet Explorer often receives a lot of unwanted toolbars and BHO’s. Add-ons and extensions are also common. This can also be caused by internet explorer security settings.

Fix 1: Reset Internet Explorer

You should reset Internet Explorer first, as it will most likely fix the problem immediately.

Reset Method 1:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on the Tools menu. Press the “Alt” key to open the active menu bar.
  3. Click on “Internet Options”. You’ll see a configuration window.
  4. Click on the advanced tab.
  5. Click the “Reset” button. Next, you will see a box with the name “Delete Personal Settings”.
  6. Click the push button.

Reset Method 2:

If Internet Explorer is not opening, or you can’t use the above method to reset Internet Explorer, there is an alternative way. This is the instrument panel. The next steps are:

  1. Click on the Start Button
  2. Click on the instrument panel
  3. Click Network and Internet
  4. Click on “Internet Options”. (You’ll see a configuration window.
  5. Click on the advanced tab.
  6. Click on the “Reset” button. You’ll then see another box. Check the box titled “Delete Personal Settings” and click the push button.

Microsoft’s fix for the web browser has been successful in fixing various issues such as freezes, sudden closes, and openings. It also recommends resetting web explorer.

If none of the above methods work, you can try the following.

Fix 2: Update the Graphics Driver or disable software rendering

This issue can sometimes be caused by graphics rendering. You should either update your graphics card driver or disable Hardware Acceleration in IE 9 & 10.

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on the Tools menu. Press the “Alt” key to open the active menu bar.
  3. Click on “Internet Options”. A configuration window will appear.
  4. Click on the advanced tab.
  5. Uncheck the option “use software rendering instead of GPU rendering”. It is located under “accelerated graphics”.

You can’t fix it. Follow the next steps.

Fix 3: Disable 3D from “NVIDIA graphics driver”.

Only if you have one. Otherwise, skip it.

In the “NVIDIA graphics driver” program, disable the “stereoscopic3D” option. This step is only necessary if you have Nvidia Graphics Drivers & Software.

  • Start Nvidia from the system tray.
  • Disable the option “stereoscopic3D” from NVIDIA drivers (NVIDIA driver might be a special effects driver whose software runs on your system tray).

You can’t fix it. Follow the next steps.

Fix 4: Uninstall Unwanted Toolbars

Sometimes, third-party toolbars can be problematic. It is better to not install any third-party toolbar. If you have one installed and are unable to remove it, follow the steps below to get rid.

  • Use the instrument panel to remove any unwanted toolbars.
  • Click on Add/Remove Programs to uninstall any toolbars found in the list.

It won’t fix the problem, so please use this method.

Fix 5: Disable unwanted add-ons

Internet Explorer allows you to disable add-ons. Add-ons can sometimes cause problems and can be the main reason for an error.

  • Navigate to Settings -> Manage Addons.
  • To disable add-ons, select and right-click.

Fix 6: Reinstall flash player, Java, and Silverlight.

Uninstall and then Re-install Add-ons Programs Like Java, Flash Player, Silverlight, from the Instrument Panel.

Find the. DLL file is not compatible with IE

If none of the above methods work, you can try this: Find the exact.dll file that is causing the problem. This can be tedious and takes a lot of time, so we save it for the last step. System logs will help us find the problem dll. Follow these steps.

  1. Right-click on My Computer and then click on Manage. Another window will open.
  2. Click on the arrow in the “Event Viewer”. (Expand it).
  3. Click on the arrow to expand the “Windows Logs”.
  4. Under Windows Logs, click on “Application”.
  5. Look now at the right side pane. It lists all system LOGS.
  6. Scroll down to find the error (Red Cross Error), associated with iexplore.exe. Double-click thereon to view the small print. This log was created when you receive an error message from Internet Explorer. Please refer to the “Time”.
  7. You now have the Error Message details. Next, locate the “.dll” file.
  8. You have the actual dll name that is conflicting with iexplore.exe. Stop the conflict by fixing, renaming, or deleting this file. You have to do some research on the file to determine what you should do.
  9. If the file cannot be deleted, restart the computer in safe mode and then delete it.
