Although I am a new Spotify user, I had an issue already – I lost and had to block my card. To correct the payment details for all services I use, and maintain a paid subscription, I needed to do so.
It took me some time to figure out how Spotify worked since I joined it just recently (don’t ask why it took so long). There are some pitfalls that not everybody knows about.
How to update Spotify payment details
Let’s begin with the most basic: Follow Spotify’s instructions. It’s very simple to do everything you need:
- Log in to access your account
- Click on Select Your Plan, then click Update next to your current payment method
- You can also choose another method of payment
It sounds so simple, doesn’t it? It works in most cases.
Except that I couldn’t update because of an error.
How can I make a change to my Spotify credit card?
What was my next move? I unsubscribed from Spotify and was then able to remove my old card and resubscribe with the new one. In case you were wondering, unsubscribe doesn’t mean you lose any saved tracks or albums. They will still be available if you resubscribe.
Contact support to resolve the problem and request that they manually modify your payment method. Simply explain that you are having trouble.
