Cat6A might be an unusual Ethernet design in some areas. These design differences can be seen as qualitative and indirect performance differences. Cat6A has a maximum bandwidth limit of 500 MHz. It is twice the bandwidth of Cat6A and has important consequences. Cat6A is capable of maintaining 10 Gbps data rates up to 100m. This is almost twice the difference between Cat6.
Crosstalk mitigation is also improved by Cat6A. The planning has two more twists than Cat6A and includes additional insulation around copper wires. This allows for a remarkable improvement in the reduction of alien crosstalk between completely separate data cables. These advancements are further enhanced by shielded Cat6A.
However, crosstalk reduction comes at a cost. Cat6A is 40 to 50 percent thicker than Cat6A and weighs in at between 40 and 50% more. You would also expect that the technically more capable cable will be more expensive.

A Review of the Cat6a Patch Panel

How to Install Cat6a Panel

Punch Down Cat6a Panel
The punch-down type has RJ45 ports on its front plate to connect Ethernet cables directly. On its rear side, the plate module has color markings to punch down Ethernet cables. You’ll need to follow these steps if you have a Cat6a patch panel Cat6a version.

- With a cable stripper, remove about 3 to 6 inches of the outer jacket from each cable.
- Second, separate cable wires. You will find four exposed twisted pairs of wires after removing the outer jacket. Each team should be separated into two separate wires.
- Third, place all cable wires in the slots on the patch panel. In case of signal weakening, please make sure wires are not exposed too much or twisted.
- Fourth, terminate each wire. To depress each wire, use a 110 punch-down to cut any excess wire.
- Fifth, you will write information on labels if required. For example, you might mark terminated incoming cables by attaching a tag at the point the line originates.
- Sixth, inspect the wire. To verify that all cables have been completed correctly, you will need to terminate them.
Feedthrough Cat6a Panel
The installation of the feed-through Cat6a panel will be easier than a punch-down type. The front and rear plates of the feed-through patch panel Cat6a versions are both equipped with RJ45 ports. This allows you to insert all cables directly into the slots. Next, follow the steps for a feed-through Cat6a panel.
- Hold the patch panel drawer at the top of the rack layer that you wish to line, and then push it forward.
- The second step is to attach the patch panel assembly onto the rack using good machine screws.
- The third step is to insert the cables one at a time into each matching port. Next, secure the wires with a strap.
- It’s optional. You can also write information on labels to identify yourself, similar to the punch-through type.
- Fifth, continue to inspect the network environments to ensure security.
